ABOUT THE BOOK

Discourse on Imperialism assembles Neferti X.M. Tadiar’s talks and writings on imperialism from 2001 to 2023, framing imperialism as a social, cultural, and political-military project that bolsters global capitalism. The essays map imperialism’s operations across political discourse, personal life, and art, alongside overt warfare. They respond to how imperial order shapes everyday thought, feeling, and community to entrench a crisis-ridden global system. Spanning over twenty years, Tadiar’s writings reveal continuities across US, Philippine, and Israeli wars and connect diverse social struggles. It charts imperialism’s recurring acts and cultural logics while tracing resistance in people’s everyday struggle and organized struggle.
