ABOUT THE BOOK

When the world was at its darkest during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, these were the writers and artists who refused to let their creative light go dim. They were inspired and were actually the first ones to spell out their feelings and perspectives regarding COVID-19.

Featured in this anthology are pieces that prove that in times when people had to cower in their houses and face a gloomy future, it was the writers and artists who were always lit up.

ABOUT THE EDITORS

Dachelle Nicole G. Parrocha, managing editor of this anthology, is an instructor of Communication Studies at the Department of Arts and Communication of the University of the Philippines Manila. A graphic design enthusiast, she enjoys using Photoshop as her virtual sandbox and her outlet for creative work, ranging from event posters to wedding invitations. She is a graduate student of Communication at the University of the Philippines Diliman, with her main areas of inquiry being gender and sexuality, health communication, and digital media. dgparrocha@up.edu.ph

Jose V. Ogatis-I is assistant professor of Communication and Philippine Arts at the Department of Arts and Communication, University of the Philippines Manila. He is the founder of the cultural performing group UP Manila Belle. He collects comic books, toys, and other geek paraphernalia. Chadwick Co Sy Su is an assistant professor of organizational communication and Philippine arts at the University of the Philippines Manila. His works on communication and pilgrimage studies have been published by reputable organizations in Asia and Europe. While his friends call him a polymath, his conceit is insufficient in that he prefers to be called a dilettante. He dabbles in the intersection of microeconomics and art. Before the lockdown, he was a frequent traveler, having visited 84 countries in an itinerant life that began in 2007. ccsysu@up.edu.ph
