ABOUT THE EDITORS
Gabriela Lee teaches creative writing and children’s literature at the Department of English and Comparative Literature at the University of the Philippines. Her creative and critical works have been published in various publications. Most recently, her short story “The Belly of the Beast” was included in a 2023 special issue of the journal MĀNOA: A Pacific Journal of International Writing called “Here was Once the Sea: An Anthology of Southeast Asian Ecowriting.” Her 2022 fiction collection, A Playlist for the End of the World, published by the University of the Philippines Press, was nominated for Best Book of Short Fiction (English) in the 2023 Philippine National Book Awards. She also received the Grand Prize at the 2019 PBBY-Salanga Awards, which was released as Cely’s Crocodile: The Story and Art of Araceli Limcaco-Dans through Tahanan Books in 2020. Anna Felicia C. Sanchez’s latest book is Pics or It Didn’t Happen and Actual Stories, published by the UP Press. She has won prizes in the Free Press and Palanca literary awards, while her first fiction collection How to Pacify a Distraught Infant: Stories (UP Press) was a finalist in the 2018 National Book Awards. Her speculative fiction has been included in Tales of Enchantment and Fantasy (Milflores), Pinoy Amazing Adventures (PSICOM), Nine Supernatural Stories (UP Press), the Likhaan Journal (ICW), and Accessing the Future: A Disability-Themed Anthology of Speculative Fiction (Futurefire). An alumna of the UP, Silliman, and Iligan National Writers Workhops, she finished her bachelor’s and master’s degrees under the Department of English and Comparative Literature of UP Diliman, where she teaches literature and creative writing. At present she is also an associate of the Likhaan: UP Institute of Creative Writing.
Sydney Paige Guerrero is a speculative fiction writer and essayist. She teaches writing and literature at the University of the Philippines Diliman, where she graduated with a degree in Creative Writing. Her fiction and nonfiction have won two Nick Joaquin Literary Awards and two Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio Literary Awards, respectively, and her work has been featured in Daily Science Fiction, Apex Magazine, Cast of Wonders, Philippines Graphic, and other venues. She is also a recipient of the International Leadership Scholarship from the University of Glasgow, where she earned a master’s degree with Distinction in English Literature: Fantasy in 2022. In 2024, she attended the Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers’ Workshop at UC San Diego as that year’s George R. R. Martin Sense of Wonder scholar.
