The book offers readers an in-depth overview of the lives of young Filipinos aged 15-24 as drawn from data from the 2021 Young Adult Fertility and Sexuality study. The book examines various aspects of young people’s lives, such as family relationships, friendships, education, employment, media and ICT use, reproductive health, attitudes and beliefs, and sexual and health risk behaviors. It also addresses key issues including gender identity and sexual orientation, mental health, youth fertility, family planning, maternal health, and the effects of COVID-19 on young adults. It explores the correlates, determinants, and consequences of these experiences, providing a comprehensive understanding of young Filipinos’ circumstances and challenges.
ABOUT THE EDITORS
Elma P. Laguna is an associate professor at the UP Population Institute (UPPI). She obtained her doctoral degree in social sciences and economics (Dr. rer. pol.) from the University of Bremen in Germany, and a master’s degree in demography from UPPI.
Maria Midea M. Kabamalan is a professor at the UPPI and is the 2021 YAFS project coordinator. She holds a PhD in sociology from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa and an MA in Demography from UPPI.
Maria Paz N. Marquez is an associate professor at the UPPI. She earned her master’s degree in demography from UPPI and is currently pursuing a PhD degree in education with a specialization in Research and Evaluation at UP Diliman.
