Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the Philippines and the third largest in Southeast Asia, used to be pristine and was an excellent source of food, irrigation, and drinking water. Currently, it is one of the most polluted lakes in the country. This book provides a historical background of its degradation and what it will take to rehabilitate the lake to a desirable and acceptable state.

ABOUT THE EDITORS

Dr. Josefino C. Comiso received his BS in Physics from the University of the Philippines and PhD in Physics from the University of California in Los Angeles. He worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as a senior scientist for several years until he retired in 2017 and became a NASA emeritus scientist and an adjunct professor at the University of the Philippines. He does research on climate and environmental changes using satellite data.

Dr. Maria Victoria O. Espaldon has a PhD in Geography from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. She has an MS in Forestry, major in Social Forestry, and a BS in Biology (Ecology) at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

Dr. Decibel V. Faustino-Eslava obtained her BS and MS in Geology from UP Diliman, her MS in Earth Systems from Kumamoto University, Japan, and her PhD in Geology from the University of Hong Kong. She served as dean of the UPLB School of Environmental Science and Management (SESAM) for two consecutive terms, from 2015 to 2021.
