ABOUT THE BOOK

Public Policy and Statistics for the Social Sciences provides a methodical and practical examination of how data and statistical concepts inform public policy. This volume, a collection of articles from the Public Policy Journal published by the UP Center for Integrative and Development Studies, serves as a testament to the significance of evidence-based policy work. The discussions in this volume deliberately invite a reexamination of the foundational principles behind using statistics to create effective and informed policy recommendations.

Developed by the Data Science for Public Policy Program (DSPPP) of UP CIDS, this book is a contribution to the growing field where data science and policy studies intersect. Its ultimate goal is to help academics, policy practitioners, and issue advocates use data to enrich discussions and develop solutions for some of the public sector’s most challenging problems.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Francis Joseph A. Dee was assistant professor at the Department of Political Science, University of the Philippines Diliman. He is now senior lecturer in the same department.
